Description
This 50-millimeter steel padlock with three keys is a sturdy option for securing gates, sheds, fences or any access point left out in the weather. The body is solid brass and the hardened 8-millimeter steel shackle is built to resist bolt cutters, a common weak point in cheaper padlocks.
Features
- Unit format, 50-millimeter padlock.
- Solid brass body.
- Hardened 8-millimeter steel shackle.
- Pin cylinder with a serrated-profile key.
- Includes three keys.
The pin cylinder with a serrated-profile key offers more combinations than a simple flat-key padlock, making it harder for a similar key to open it by chance. The hardened 8 mm shackle resists common bolt cutters and casual tampering, though like any padlock it’s not a substitute for a heavy chain or bolt if the threat is a heavier cutting tool; for everyday use on gates, sheds or fences it does its deterrent job well and holds up to repeated use without the shackle loosening. Being suitable for outdoor use, it holds up to rain and direct sun without the mechanism sticking, though it’s worth adding a drop of light oil to the cylinder now and then if it’s used somewhere very humid or near the coast, to keep the key turning smoothly and to stop it from stiffening with age.
It ships with its three factory keys, handy for leaving one copy at home, keeping another on your everyday keyring and a third as backup somewhere safe in case one gets lost. It’s worth labeling each padlock if you buy more than one, since they look identical at a glance from a few steps away and only its own key opens each cylinder.
